Despite his mother being the 'supreme politician' of their family, Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. said it is his personal decision to run again, this time, for the highest post in the Philippines.
"Even my father I don’t think would object if I say she’s the supreme politician in the family. My father is a statesman. He’s the political genius," Marcos Jr. said during his one-on-one interview on CNN Philippines.
"I can say that I learn something new every time I talk to my mother, especially in a serious talk about politics. I always learn something new. So, yes, she has always had a very big influence on everything," he added.
The former senator said he consulted his mother, former first lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos, over his plans and to also hear out her thoughts.
"The decision was mine, I really have to say the decision was mine. Of course, I consulted everyone whose opinions I value, both in and out of politics. Of course my family, I had to ask them because if I do this, all our lives will change," Marcos Jr. said.
